Ms. Rabney co-founded Argot Partners in 2007 as a life sciences-focused strategic communications consultancy to help companies of all sizes and stages articulate their science and its value to key stakeholders. She leverages her broad expertise and relationships within the financial industry to counsel clients on matters such as corporate positioning, mergers and acquisitions, financings and shareholder activism. During her tenure at Argot Partners, she has worked with more than 300 biopharmaceutical clients as a senior advisor at key inflection points across the corporate lifecycle.
Prior, Ms. Rabney served as Vice President, Corporate Communications at ImClone Systems (acquired by Eli Lilly and Company), where she was a member of the Management Committee and, for 13 years, led the company’s communications department. At ImClone, she was responsible for all communication initiatives, including the landmark $2 billion strategic partnership with Bristol-Myers Squibb, the regulatory failure and ultimate approval of the cancer treatment ERBITUX®, various government investigations, an exploration of strategic alternatives and a consent solicitation by investor Carl Icahn. Ms. Rabney began her career as a compliance analyst at Smith Barney Shearson Inc.
Ms. Rabney serves on the Board of Directors of the Red Door Community and as a member of its Executive Committee. She earned a J.D. from the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center at Touro College and was admitted to practice law in New York State in 1993. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University.
Prior to joining Argot, Dr. Samad established Symbios Partners to address an unmet need in the biotechnology advisory space by leveraging biomedical, drug development and financial analytical expertise to create a strategic advisory consultancy with a uniquely multidisciplinary skillset. From 2008-2016, he engaged client senior management teams on topics such as development of corporate strategy, clinical and business development strategy, competitive landscape analysis, crisis management and defining a differentiated investment thesis. Since 2016, he oversees these services to Argot’s biotechnology clients, as well as stock and shareholder analytics.
Prior to launching Symbios, Dr. Samad was a Managing Director at Bear Stearns where he directed the small/mid-cap biotechnology equity research team from 2000-2008. He is a former academic cancer and genomics researcher, and completed his postgraduate clinical training at Cornell, the National Cancer Institute and Harvard. He has been an invited moderator at the Annual Cancer Progress Conferences, and has conceived and moderated conferences on oncology, molecular diagnostics and genomics. He received his MD and PhD training at NYU Medical School.
Mr. Pitts co-founded Argot Partners with Andrea F. Rabney after their close collaboration at ImClone Systems (acquired by Eli Lilly and Company), where they navigated communications surrounding the landmark $2 billion strategic partnership with Bristol-Myers Squibb, the regulatory failure and ultimate approval of the cancer treatment ERBITUX®, various government investigations, an exploration of strategic alternatives and a consent solicitation by investor Carl Icahn. Mr. Pitts worked for ImClone as communications advisor and subsequently joined the company as a full-time corporate executive in 2004.
In 2007, Mr. Pitts and Ms. Rabney established Argot Partners as a life scienced-focused strategic communications consultancy to provide clients with a full suite of communications services to help communicate their narratives to key audiences at every stage of the biopharmaceutical lifecycle.
Mr. Pitts began his career in corporate communications at boutique special situations firm, Sard Verbinnen & Company, and later joined the Abernathy MacGregor Group, ultimately serving as a Senior Vice President. In these roles, he counseled multi-national clients through such matters as mergers and acquisitions, corporate crises, restructurings, proxy contests, initial public offerings, exchange listings and litigation.
Mr. Pitts earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Asian Studies from Trinity College in Connecticut where he graduated with honors and thesis distinctions. He is fluent in French and proficient in Mandarin and Spanish.
John brings 20 years of communications experience in the life science industry to Argot Partners, leveraging his in-house roles at large, mid-size and development-stage pharmaceutical companies and at a national not-for-profit healthcare organization. He began his healthcare career as a journalist covering infectious disease and mental health. At Argot, John provides clients with strategic corporate communications counsel.
Prior to joining Argot, John served as Director of Corporate Communications at Akebia Therapeutics, where he led communications and investor relations during the company’s merger with Keryx Biopharmaceuticals. Prior, John served as Associate Director of Corporate Communications at Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, where he led communications initiatives and product communications, including the launch of two FDA-approved products. Before Ironwood, John worked at Forest Laboratories, now AbbVie, where he formalized and integrated the company’s corporate communications function; in the healthcare division of a New York-based global public relations firm, as a Vice President; and for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, where he served as the National Director of Public Relations. John earned a B.S. in Mass Communication from Boston University.
Laura has over 20 years of experience providing investor relations and corporate communications counsel to biotechnology companies, specializing in investor relations program development and strategic communications. She has worked with a wide range of biotechnology companies throughout her career, from pre-IPO names to large-cap, revenue-generating companies. In addition to implementing effective investor relations outreach programs, she has helped her clients navigate a variety of complex communications issues, including M&A and partnering communications, data communications, financial guidance and crisis communications. Prior to joining Argot Partners in 2009, Laura served as an IR consultant for several small-cap biotechnology companies. Prior to that, she spent seven years at Stern Investor Relations, most recently as Vice President. Previously, she was a Director in the Biotechnology Group at The Carson Group, providing capital markets consulting and IR targeting services for emerging biotech companies. She began her career in the Corporate Finance Group at Montgomery Securities. She holds a B.A. in Science & Technology Studies from Cornell University and is a CFA® Charterholder.
With over 18 years of experience, Michelle comes to Argot with a unique skill set having served in both investor relations and corporate development roles at publicly traded and private development stage life science companies. Specializing in the design and implementation of strategic corporate initiatives, investor relations program development, messaging, and communications writing, she is able to apply her professional insights to help emerging growth companies raise awareness and build beneficial relationships with investors, financial analysts, and the scientific and medical communities. Michelle also has extensive experience laying the groundwork for successful finance and stockholder initiatives including venture and follow-on financing rounds, IPOs, corporate milestone and data announcements, annual shareholder meetings, joint ventures and M&A transactions.
Prior to joining Argot Partners in 2012, Michelle served as Vice President, Corporate Development at Manhattan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. where she oversaw investor relations and business development, and worked alongside the corporate officers to develop and implement all of the major strategic corporate initiatives. Prior to that, she served at Javelin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as Manager, Investor Relations and Corporate Affairs. Michelle holds a B.S. in Film and Television from New York University.
Jason Finkelstein is a strategic financial and corporate communications leader with over 20 years of experience in the healthcare, technology, EV and financial services industries. His background and experience include both corporate and agency spanning all forms of stakeholder communications: investors, media, key opinion leaders, executive and financial leadership and Board of Directors. He has held various roles in the Pharmaceutical industry spanning from government contracting, clinical development and corporate finance.
He has a track record of successfully establishing Investor Relations for newly public companies and those preparing for IPOs.
Jason received his BA from Binghamton University and his M.B.A. in Finance from Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business.

Prior to consulting, Mariesa served as president of Atlantic Communications Group, a full-service media relations agency, Boston, MA, for eight years.
Sam brings to Argot over 17 years of experience in life sciences, having worked in investor relations, as well as in buy-side research, sell-side research and corporate finance. He specializes in development and execution of strategic investor relations programs for public and pre-IPO companies in the life sciences sector.
Sam joined Argot from The Ruth Group, an investor relations and public relations firm specializing in healthcare. Prior to The Ruth Group, Sam worked at LifeSci Advisors, a healthcare focused investor relations and equity research firm. Prior to joining LifeSci Advisors, he was a healthcare analyst at Clay Capital Management, where he was responsible for generating long/short portfolio positions and hedging strategies. Sam was also a healthcare analyst at Wachovia Securities (Wells Fargo), where he covered the Specialty Pharmaceutical sector. Prior to that, he worked in Financial Planning and Analysis at Merck.
Sam received his MBA in Finance from NYU Stern School of Business, and earned his BA in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
David brings three decades of pharmaceutical and healthcare public relations experience to Argot Partners. He has significant product launch, crisis management, data promotion, patient education, internal communications and advocacy relations experience gained through both corporate and public relations agency roles. On the corporate side, he led US and Global communications for a number of therapeutic areas including Virology/HIV, Metabolics, Neuroscience and Rheumatology during his 10 years tenure at Bristol-Myers Squibb and DuPont Pharmaceuticals. On the agency side, David worked for several public relations agencies including Burson-Marsteller and Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide. He has also been a communications lead for Meridian Health, a hospital system located in central New Jersey. Finally, as a result of his decades’ long interest in health care and his desire to constantly improve the lives of people in need, David is a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the state of New Jersey. David holds a B.A. in Speech Communication from Ithaca College.
Liza has nearly 20 years of agency experience with some of the leading firms in the country, working on a cross-spectrum of major clients in healthcare.
At Argot Partners Liza provides corporate communications strategy and leads thought leadership initiatives to enhance visibility for today’s leading biotech CEO’s and their management teams. Liza’s deep healthcare experience includes helping life sciences companies manage their reputations effectively when issues arise and implementing multi-media communications campaigns to promote news, corporate culture and key executives. Earlier in her career, she worked in the New York healthcare practice of a global PR agency designing and implementing campaigns for Phillips Healthcare, Pfizer’s drug CELEBREX, as well as for Hoffman La Roche’s oncology portfolio and Aventis’ flu and meningitis vaccines. In biotech, she has managed communications programs and social media presence for Apellis Pharmaceuticals, Apic Bio, Vigeo Therapeutics, Elicio, BiondVax, Raphael Pharma, and Ilex Oncology. Liza was a speaker at Deerfield Management’s inaugural CEO conference and is a board member of the New England Conservatory of Music. She holds a BA in Italian from Connecticut College.
Deborah Elson has 11+ years of global public relations, strategic communications and digital strategy experience in biopharma, science and medicine. Before joining Argot Partners in January 2021, Deborah served as a vice president on FleishmanHillard’s healthcare team. She counseled public and private biotech and pharmaceutical companies focused on CNS, rare diseases and gastrointestinal disorders, helping them navigate regulatory and corporate milestones and driving employee engagement, social media, website, thought leadership, corporate narrative, media strategy and issues management initiatives. During her tenure at the Society for Neuroscience, Deborah launched and oversaw a content website for the neuroscience field and led other content, marketing and communications initiatives. As a communications officer at the Sabin Vaccine Institute, she managed international media relations for neglected tropical disease drug and vaccine programs, placing news stories, conducting stakeholder relations and planning event communications. She began her career at a think tank and a crisis communications and reputation management agency.
Deborah earned her BA in international affairs, with a minor in art history, from The George Washington University, and her MPS in public relations and corporate communications from Georgetown University. She is an associate board member of Rethink Food, a nonprofit headquartered in New York City on a mission to reducing food insecurity.
Nate has over 15 years’ experience as a strategic finance specialist with a majority of that time spent working with publicly traded healthcare companies on both the buy-side and corporate-side. He has a robust understanding and appreciation for the nuances of planning and executing a successful investor relations program. Nate’s experience spans multiple therapeutic areas, stages of development and commercialization, size and structure of companies, and a myriad of investment vehicles and M&A partnership strategies. Nate joined Argot Partners in 2021 and is passionate about helping clients achieve their investor relations goals and optimize valuations.
Nate attended the University of Oregon where he played tight end for the Ducks football program, earning Team Captain honors, and graduated with a Bachelors in Business Administration, Bachelors in Psychology, minor in Economics, and MBA in Finance.
Kimberly Minarovich brings to Argot over 25 years of experience in finance and investor relations. Kimberly joined the Argot Partners investor relations team in March 2016. Prior, she was Vice President at Burns McClellan where she led strategic investor relations programs for public life sciences companies as well as assisted companies in financings during pre-IPO stages through their IPOs. At Christensen International, she launched the company’s domestic healthcare practice and assisted numerous international companies with listings on the NYSE and NASDAQ exchanges. Ms. Minarovich began her IR career as Vice President, Investor Relations & Corporate Communications at Medicis Pharmaceutical.
Kimberly also spent nearly 15 years on Wall Street as a sell-side analyst at Goldman Sachs and Bear Stearns and as healthcare analyst on the buy-side at Bramwell Capital and Clay Finlay where she covered the global healthcare sector and was responsible for healthcare investments in domestic, European and emerging markets portfolios. She earned a Masters in Business Administration from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lehigh University. She has also completed Level I of the CFA program. Kimberly speaks Polish and Italian and is pursuing coursework for a sommelier accreditation.
Sarah specializes in guiding corporate communications strategy for biotech companies. Her expertise includes corporate messaging and branding, media relations, issues preparedness and crisis management, thought leadership, and patient advocacy and disease awareness campaigns.
Sarah’s past and current clients include life sciences-focused venture capital firms and private and public biotech companies spanning all stages of clinical development. She has worked in a range of therapeutic areas, including cancer, rare disease, neuroscience, and the microbiome. She has guided her clients through many significant financial, clinical and regulatory milestones, and supported the launch of multiple new biotech companies.
Before joining Argot in 2021, Sarah led communications strategy for industry-leading biotech clients at the Glover Park Group and prior to that, at Ten Bridge Communications. She previously led writing projects for the fundraising team at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. She began her career as a reporter at the Glens Falls (N.Y.) Post-Star. She holds a BA in History and Literary Arts from Brown University, and a PhD in History of Science from Brandeis University.
Julie is a strategic communications professional with more than 20 years of experience across investor relations, corporate communications, public relations, ESG reporting, and digital media. In her role as Managing Director at Argot Partners, she provides strategic investor relations counsel to clients to support fair market valuation, position companies for growth, and enhance brand reputation. She is passionate about working with clients who are innovating in healthcare and improving people’s lives.
Julie brings a breadth of communications experience, including IR strategy and program development, financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, rebranding, and shareholder activism. Before joining Argot Partners, she was Senior Vice President, Investor Relations at MacDougall, a strategic communications agency, where she provided senior counsel in investor relations and ESG communications to clients in the life sciences industry. Prior to that, Julie was part of the global communications team at TJX, a Fortune 100 retailer, where she was responsible developing and implementing the corporate strategy for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) communications and investor engagement. She also led the strategy and execution for corporate digital communications, managed corporate communications, and was a member of the crisis communications team. Prior to TJX, Julie was director of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications for Haemonetics, a global med tech company.
Stephanie is an award-winning strategic communications leader with more than 25+ years of managing a range of challenges for leading companies across multiple industries, including pharmaceuticals and financial services.
Before joining Argot Partners in 2022, Stephanie served as Senior Vice President, Thought Leadership and Strategy at Green Room Communications, an integrated health care communications firm, where she counseled biotech, pharmaceutical and healthcare companies navigate regulatory and corporate milestones and drove thought leadership, corporate messaging, media strategy, employee engagement, social media, and issues management.
Stephanie has strong pharmaceutical experience, having led product communications for Janssen Pharmaceutical’s oncology portfolio and AstraZeneca’s cardiovascular portfolio. She has experience leading the internal and external communications support of NDA and sNDA filings and approvals as well as new product launches, data announcements and scientific presentations at major medical meetings. She also led global crisis communications around global supply issues and a U.S. Department of Justice investigation into a core clinical trial.
Stephanie is a graduate of Iowa State University and currently lives in West Chester, PA with her husband, son, and labradoodle Lucky.
Kotaro is a healthcare subject matter expert and a communications specialist, partnering with some of the largest public pharma and biotech companies in the world as well as many private, pre-IPO healthcare firms. He has 15 years of relevant experience including extensive backgrounds in biomedical research, journalism, investor relations and data analytics.
He studied cancer immunology and immunotoxicology in graduate school, before becoming an investigative journalist for the business intelligence unit of the Financial Times where he covered US public and private healthcare markets. Later, Kotaro moved into healthcare IR, PR and crisis communications at FTI, developing communications strategies for companies like Patheon, Alexion and Intellia during IPOs, M&As, pivotal clinical data releases, and other major material events. Most recently, Kotaro led the healthcare arm of Global Intelligence, the data analytics division at Weber Shandwick, developing proprietary tools and methodologies to deliver data-driven insights to his clients for various branding and communications initiatives.
Kotaro received Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Mathematics from Johns Hopkins University. He also received a Master’s degree in Biology from New York University, and a Master’s degree in Immunology from Duke University.
Paige brings 20+ years of corporate communications and public relations experience across a broad array of industries including Fortune 500 businesses. Before joining Argot Partners in August 2021, Paige provided communications consulting to small businesses and non-profit organizations focusing on social media, branding, public affairs, media relations and internal communications.
During her 11 years at Novozymes, a global biotech leader, she directed all aspects of communications for North America. She co-developed and managed an award-winning employee ambassador program to support the company’s public affairs efforts and developed a comprehensive public relations program to promote public adoption of biofuels. Her leadership drove significant increases in employee engagement, social media presence and influence, thought leadership, media coverage and issues management strategy and planning. She began her career in the corporate headquarters of McCaw Cellular Communications during its merger with AT&T and later IPO as AT&T Wireless Services.
Paige earned her BA in Communications/Public Relations at University of Washington and her MBA in management from Western International University. She lives in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Jay Liu joined Argot Partners in April 2022, where she focuses on providing counsel on corporate communications and investor relations strategy for public and private companies. Jay excels in high-stakes projects, advising clients in support of transformative events including SPAC transactions, leadership transitions, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder activism, take-private deals and bankruptcies. Her background includes deal advisory, special situations and crisis work spanning stakeholder groups including investors and analysts, media, employees, partners, regulators and legislators.
Jay has a track record of working closely with C-suite executives as they navigate challenging market dynamics. She brings significant experience implementing comprehensive media relations and public affairs campaigns in support of reputation management and value preservation. In her engagements, Jay has worked to establish companies’ investor relations functions and profile-raising post-IPO by driving stakeholder outreach, drafting and pitching thought leadership and op-eds, submitting award nominations and placing speaker opportunities.
In her previous role at Abernathy MacGregor, Jay advised on deals reaching up to 20B in valuation. Her other past clients include a Fortune 10 pharmaceutical company, an investment fund focused on the life sciences, and a FAANG company.
Jay received a B.S. in International Relations and Politics (IRP) and Social and Political History (SPH) and a B.A. in Chinese Studies from Carnegie Mellon University. She lives in New York.
Patrick joins Argot Partners from Syneos Health where he served as VP in the Risk and Reputation Management group. He is an accomplished corporate communications professional with 20+ years’ experience in a broad range of industries including healthcare IT, medical devices, life sciences and B2B technology. He specializes in developing corporate narratives, building awareness, and driving transformations for both emerging companies and established businesses.
Prior to Syneos, Patrick successfully led his own communications consultancy where he developed and executed communications plans with a focus on PR, thought leadership, executive visibility, and social media. He has held in-house senior corporate marketing and communications roles at Wolters Kluwer Health, PerkinElmer, Excelitas Technologies, Luminus Devices and others.
Patrick earned a B.A. in English from Merrimack College in North Andover, MA.
Madeline joined Argot Partners as a senior designer in late 2021. Since 2018, she has worked closely with biotechnology and life science companies on wide array of design projects. She specializes in social media graphics, data visualization, website design, brand work and collateral, presentation design and scientific poster creation. With a strong passion for both the sciences and the arts, Madeline enjoys finding new and compelling ways to expand upon a brand story, informed by a shared understanding of the science, culture and drive of the individuals who make up the team she is working with.
Prior to joining Argot, Madeline worked as a freelance designer and illustrator, and various roles at Ten Bridge Communications, Seres Therapeutics, the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Institute for Discovery in Madison. During her time at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Institute for Discovery, she worked as a lab manager for the Visual Reasoning Lab, devoting her attention to studying “inferred mappings” for how visual features, such as color, will map onto concepts in information visualization, as well as the Virtual Environments Group (formerly the Living Environments Laboratory), which explores various academic projects using virtual reality. While at the Visual Reasoning Lab, Madeline worked on two publications on inferred mappings, as well as a conference presentation she gave at the annual Vision Sciences Society meeting.
Madeline graduated with honors from Wheaton College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in both neuroscience and studio art. She was awarded membership to the Tri Beta Honorary Biological Society and the Psi Chi National Psychology Honorary Society.
Luis is a graphic designer with over ten years of experience who Joined Argot Partners in November 2021. He specializes in rebranding, presentation design, marketing collateral, and photography/videography.
Previous clients include Opko, BioReference Laboratories, Prudential Financial, The Blackstone Group, Janssen/Johnson & Johnson, Douglas Elliman, Ferring Pharmaceuticals, Conduit Global, The Red Panda Network, McCann Health, Moderna, among others. Luis earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Digital Arts & Design from Full Sail University.
Marianne joined Argot Partners as a senior art director in July 2021. She has over 10 years of design experience, serving as lead creative on a variety of campaigns and projects in both in-house and agency roles, as well as managing creative teams on a day-to-day basis. An award winning designer, Marianne has extensive experience in print, web, UX, and branding. Before joining Argot, Marianne worked at Fidelity Investments, Thinkargus and Tenbridge Communications, and freelanced for clients in the health, non-profit and education fields.
Marianne received her Bachelor’s degree in graphic design at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and her Master’s degree in graphic design at Boston University, both with honors.
Joel has worked in agency creative departments for the past decade, first as a copywriter developing a range of traditional and digital content for many Fortune 100 brands, and now as a project manager overseeing the full lifecycle of various creative projects.
Joel was previously the Creative Project Manager at PrizeLogic, where he led creative production for promotional websites and loyalty programs for clients including Johnson & Johnson, Lowe’s and Disney.
Faith Simunyu joined Argot Partners as a board-certified Senior Biomedical Illustrator in June 2021. She combines deep scientific knowledge and artistic principles to create 2D and 3D illustrations – rendering science accurately, beautifully and comprehensibly across audiences.
Prior to joining Argot, Faith successfully started and expanded the biomedical illustration offering at Ten Bridge Communications where she partnered with teammates to create effective science visuals for clients in the biotech industry. Projects included developing new and branded imagery to communicate key scientific concepts such as mechanisms of action that were featured on websites, with the goal of giving clients ownable visual identities specific to their story. These scientific illustrations were further expanded to meet client-specific communication needs on social media platforms, scientific papers, publications and PowerPoint Presentations.
Faith received her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Denison University and went on to obtain her Master of Science in Biomedical Visualization from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
